First Painting by David Michael Jackson Ever Shown in Public

Dog Painting

September 18, 2012

Painting of Dog placed in

Moxie’s Window in Murfreesboro, Tennessee

twenty years after it was painted.

The day was unheralded and

three dogs would have been seen

walking by

but all dogs are no longer

free and must be walked

daily by

people who are not walking by Moxie

but

I

was.

Thank you Moxie

I’m trying to come out of my shell. My little town has an Art Walk now and I’m showing some pieces for the first time. My images have been on the net since 1996. I have, however been in my shell.

I Muttered Poem

he spoke
I held the phone away from my ear
will he ever stop
I brought the phone back
“Oh yeah”, I muttered
away went the phone
will he ever stop
I clicked the mouse
“You’re kidding”, I muttered
tiny mice grabbed my brain and
wrenched it
twisted it
I grimaced
I grimaced
My face contorted into
a tortured ogre
then I remembered
he’s my friend
and I’d be lost
without him.

Take All of Me Billie Holiday

Oh Billie

I can hear you in the train as it

cries out in the night

Chicago

Memphis

New Orleans

Oh Billie

I can hear you in the

way my memories fall in  little

pieces on the stair

Oh Billie can you make that horn player play

Don’t explain

Take all of me
Take all of me
Take all of me
Don’t leave anything behind
Don’t leave anything behind

Socks in the Corner Poem

My brain is tired

the left side

in the front

the part that thinks

it’s in charge.

I drink the bottled water and try to

make the other side say that it is there

that I don’t have to add things up

that the socks in the corner will be

fine for now

that it all didn’t matter anyway

but the socks in the corner

need washing

and they lie there staring at me

like dishes
