20 years and Go To Vegas Poem by Amy Jackson
I was 19 years old…
I loved him…. no doubt.
But… I was 19 and stupid.
He loved me in spite of myself.
We lived.
Had kids…
Had bills…
Had memories…
And now? It has been 20 years.
20 years? Really?
Where did the time go?
To kids…
To bills…
To our memories.
Time to make some new ones.
Not kids…. memories!
Off to Vegas.
Vegas?
Yes…. Vegas!
A toast to the next 20.

you who read me,
somewhere in this world.
Oh I have done it for so long now.
I may have published
the first poem on the net.
It went
Hello World.
“Hello Ball”,
said Art Carney.
I roll the ball toward
some overwhelming question
without an answer
and tell you that
beauty is truth.
Then a few judge
whether I
said it
well enough.
when all I wanted, really,
all you wanted
was to hear the words
rain drops fall off the leaf.
