Never Mind Poem by David Michael Jackson

Reading by Andy Derryberrry  Music by David Jackson from Dreams

Okay I’ll write more
and take the time to cry more
It takes time to cry
you have to make time, to stop,
because doing, doing, doing is what
we are told
is the way to be.
I’m writing a poem.
Never write a poem about writing a poem
that what we teach
and that’s what I’ve done
so never mind,

Nevermind as the walls
crash, as the walls crumble,
crumble as surely as the tanks fire at them,
and as surely as babies die.

yessireee
don’t ever write a poem
about writing poems
and that is what I’ve done
so
never mind

We at the heartache always I mean always like your visit yes we do
yes we always yes always like to see you
Well I went down to town one day yes I went down to town
I stopped into the heartache cafe…had me some eggs..a cup o’ coffee
talked to the waitress….read the paper….at the heartache cafe
Yes we’re glad to see you here down here on heartache cafe day
I was comin here to entertain you but you didn’t show up
now I’m standin’ here all alone singin’ this song to you
at the heartache at the heartache at the heartache cafe
Sittin’ in the heartache cafe sit an’ have a latte

a brief respite that’s respite r…e…s…p…i…t…e
a moment’s repast as they say
at the heartache cafe

Window Poem

Reading and music my Chris Carmichael

from Dreams

I am worn weathered wood.
I have seen the storms,
felt the hot sun,
endured the wind until
I am cracked.
My colors have faded into
burnt siennas, from red under
the sun’s rays.
I have seen the owl at night and
the hawk in the day for
I am a window in this wood,
this weathered wood.
I am a window or
I am nothing.
I am a window.
Sneak up.
Take a peek
into my panes.
She will be there, sitting
at the table,
having her tea
or holding her cat
quietly.

The Fool Returns to Rhyme Poem

What an idiot

what a fool

what a perfect

perfect tool

What a sunrise

and sunset

It’s going to rain all night I bet

Once again the fool returns to rail

to roll the train of thought

to jail

Once again the tool is worn

until the metal’s scorn

returns to cut another time

and the fool returns to rhyme.
