Travel Poem by Joan Pond

December 15, 2014August 3, 2012 by Jackson

I merely catch a glimpse.
Not in Machu Picchu or Tianamen Square ,
but in a person’s eyes.
Travel can be simply defined,
by a woman on the plane
handing me a stick of gum.
Mumbling, ‘I do not speak English well’.
Yet she’d spoken
as clear as a bell.
