Sleep | Poem by Alisha Fitzjarrald

I want to slip into the darkness

and wear it like a coat,

say goodbye

and drop into the abyss

and become unknown.

Let the darkness cradle me

and the silence sing to me

with the sound

of my own heartbeat.

You don’t fall,

you just float in the breeze

like the leaves off of the trees

while you drift

off to sleep..
