Don Quixote Poem
                                        by David Michael Jackson

One does not speak of a rope in the house of the hanged.*

That's who I am.
Don Quixote.
Don Quixote chasing windmills.
.
Impossible dreams!
Did I not read
The Old Man and the Sea
Do I not know that dreams are
bones tied
to a boat.

Maybe I lit one candle.
Maybe I helped someone,
somewhere,
to notice
how the dust
dances in the sunlight.

So from Don Quixote himself,

The quest is noble,
the dream, divine.

*No hables de la soga en casa del ahorcado
