Why Can't we Just Get Along
                                          By David Michael Jackson
Everybody is talking
nobody is listening
and the talking heads
all talk at once.
The jobs went north, the jobs went south
and the Chinese just bought Vermont.

Oh my grass is long
and my neighbors must hate me
and the money it's almost gone.
The car won't run
and my underwear scrapes me
so why can't we all just get along.
We'll just have to get along.

Oh the robbers and the bankers all got together
and decided to write us all a loan..
Now big empty houses  have broken windows
and nobody, nobody is at home.

Oh the jobs went north and the jobs went south
and we went shopping at China Mart.
We'll be here 'till the money runs out
and then we'll be moving along.

And we'll get us an F-150 truck,
put a dresser and a box springs in the back.
We'll head out west to look for work,
We'' drive to California and back.

Oh my grass is long
and my neighbors must hate me
and the money it's almost gone.
The car won't run
and my underwear scrapes me
so why can't we all just get along.
We'll just have to get along.
