A busy city, <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Far from home.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Onrushing,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The teeming crowd,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n A tsunami of sorts.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n And as you walk on into the melee,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n As it comes to you,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n For the briefest, sweetest of moments<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n To catch the eye, <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n To share a smile, <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n To touch the soul of a stranger <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n You may never see again.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n This is as it should be.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The often cavernously empty <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Business of life will always <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Occasionally be overwhelmed by truth.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n For the restless soul hungers for such moorings,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Such absolute points of recognition<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Gifted by love, <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n By light shared with others.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n But such chances come and go so suddenly<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n That what was once so recent, so vivid<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Already seems so distant and long ago.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n What then,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n If not still true to your heart?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Only swamped I fear. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Lost on a surging tide,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Swept back to faceless oblivion, <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n To the ruin of indifference to start again\u2026<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a9 Scott Hastie 2012. It is very important to me that my work remains as open, accessible and as simply expressed as possible.
