Grief has a way of inducing tunnel-vision. When heartache hampers progress, find discipline in breathing,
\nopenness in loving, and simple honesty in writing; human life is precious. <\/p>\n

IN TIMES OF CHANGE (Tankas)<\/strong>\r\n\r\nSerendipity\r\nwas involved in what happened\r\nWhen I feted you\r\nbut it gave me no pleasure\r\nlosing contact with your soul\r\n.\r\nSo I tried shaping\r\nthe shifting times to suit us,\r\nto build a safeguard\r\naround the soft parts of you,\r\nthose parts prone to impairment\r\n.\r\nBut all I did failed,\r\nthe colors began fading,\r\nthe blossoms fell, and\r\nthe fictions I\u2019d once embraced \r\nbecame a strangling hindrance\r\n.\r\nHow does one cope with\r\nan overwhelming sorrow,\r\na consuming storm,\r\nwhen all you feel depletes you \r\nand writing is not enough\r\n.\r\nBut there was hope, still,\r\n(I thought) in all these struggles,\r\nlife\u2019s trying seasons \r\nchallenging ev\u2019ry human\r\nwilling to search the unknown\r\n.\r\nNow,\r\n.\r\neach day I press on,\r\neager to write something new, \r\neven as heartache\r\nimpedes my reaction to \r\nlivings wild rage of echoes\r\n.\r\nThere\u2019s a place for friends,\r\nwhen forgetfulness deepens,\r\na place in the heart\r\nwhere memories of closeness\r\nremain strong in times of change\r\n.\r\nYou will always be with me\u2026 <\/pre>\n

I began understanding myself (and my place in life) far better after almost destroying myself.  And in the process
\nof fixing myself and healing, I began recognizing who I really was. Love and wisdom  are the keys.<\/p>\n
\r\nMemories (that beat like a second heart)<\/strong>\r\n.\r\nCome twilight, come mist, \r\nThese ever-changing heavens\r\ninspire me to purge\r\nwhat suppresses loves heartlight \r\nand stays a healthy minds thoughts\u2026\r\n. \r\nKnowing life\u2019s mistakes      \r\nwere only a life lesson,\r\nnot a life sentence,\r\n.\r\nWe\u2019ve espoused a way,\r\nyou and I, where hope remains,\r\nnotwithstanding these\r\nfraught thoughts churning within us,\r\ncome they shall, in time they must\r\nyet love will still deliver us\r\nfrom all that grips us deep within\r\nand stays the hand of reason\r\n.\r\nCome twilight, come mist, \r\nthis dark cerulean sky\r\nseeks to arouse us\r\nas the night draws us closer\r\nin a flame of enchantment\r\n.\r\nTo again regain  \r\nsimple sensibilities,  \r\nnotwithstanding these  \r\nbroken days that plague us yet,\r\ncome they shall, and so they must\r\nstill wisdom will deliver us\r\nfrom all that plagues us deep within\r\nand causes us to suffer\r\n.\r\nSome days, I relive\r\nmy hearts deafening silence,\r\nwhere hard memories\r\ndwell within what they quicken,\r\nand beat like a second heart\u2026 <\/pre>\n

\r\nLife\u2019s Dance of Moments<\/strong>\r\n\r\n\u2018Water-man\u2019 image was taken at Lake Ellery in the Sierra Nevada \r\noutside the Tuolumne Meadows. Ekphrastic.<\/em> \r\n.\r\nMichele and I\r\nwatch, as snow pure \r\nstreams worm down over   \r\nthe grays and reddish umbers   \r\nof mountain granite, \r\nboth of us \r\ncharmed with the  \r\nfleetingness of shapes, \r\nand how it streams freely\r\naround and throughout all it\r\ntouches, and how the musicalness  \r\nof flowing water (to our ears) embodies   \r\nthe wayward lightness of moments\u2026. And\r\n.\r\nas we test various   \r\nangles and shutter speeds \r\n(hoping to capture  \r\nthe magic \r\nof moments)  \r\nthe flow suddenly \r\nstrengthens, and an \r\nodd water figure appears, \r\nsitting stoically staring at us shifting \r\nin the briefness of streaming seconds\u2026. Then it\r\n.\r\nbecomes clear how \r\nlife moves in moments,\r\nand how with each breath  \r\nthere is constant action     \r\nin all things (visible      \r\nand invisible) as \r\nnothing in creation  \r\never remains motionless\u2026.\r\na dance of moments  \r\nin the Creator\u2019s  \r\nbreath, in which life\u2019s\r\ngreater lessons and mysteries  \r\ncan be understood at times simply \r\nas the moon\u2019s reflection floating in\r\nan old water barrel, or in the \r\nheavy drops that form on\r\nleaf tips, (as fleetingly \r\nbeautiful as a\r\nmother's tears)  \r\nor how in each droplet  \r\nexist a myriad of microbes   \r\nand soulish reflections that all\r\nsurrender to the swish and swirl \r\nof living\u2019s ephemerality\u2019s\u2026.\r\n.\r\nLife\u2019s dance of moments fades so fast\r\nthe scent of time in mem\u2019ry\u2019s cast\r\nreminding us of all things past,\r\nthe days pass quickly,\r\nthe night turns dark and vast,\r\nbut nothing remains\u2026 nothing lasts\u2026.<\/pre>\n

AUTHOR BIOGRAPHY – 2022
\nRICHARD LLOYD CEDERBERG <\/strong>was born in Chicago Illinois. He is the progeny of Swedish and Norwegian immigrants. Richard began his journey into the arts at the age of six. For twelve years he played classical trumpet. But when the wonderful incursion of British music invaded America, he set aside the trumpet and took up acoustic and electric guitar. Richard began writing songs and lyrics and poetry. He performed in 17 professional bands. He played clubs, halls, cabarets, and concerts in Europe, Canada, across the USA, Alaska, and even Whitehorse in the Yukon Territories. Richard’s band SECRETS was one of the top four Pop-Jazz bands in San Diego for 5 years. In 1995 Richard was privileged to design and build his own Midi-centered digital Recording Studio ~ TAYLOR & GRACE ~ where he worked feverishly until 2002. During that time, he composed, and multi-track recorded, over 500 compositions. Only two CD\u2019s were compiled: WHAT LOVE HAS DONE and THE PATH. Richard retired from music in 2003….

\nRichard traveled extensively throughout the USA, British Columbia, Manitoba, Alberta, and Saskatchewan, in Canada, the Yukon Territories, Kodiak Island, Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, Sitka, Petersburg, and Glacier Bay, in Alaska, the Azorean Archipelagoes, and throughout Germany, Switzerland, Spain, and Holland. Richard and his wife, Michele, have been avid adventurers. They\u2019ve hiked the Laguna Mountains, the Cuyamaca Mountains, the High Deserts in Southern California, the Eastern Sierra\u2019s, the Dixie National Forest, the Northern California and Southern Oregon coastlines, and the \u201cFour Corners\u201d region of the United States.

\nRICHARD’S POETRY contains history, mythology, personal relationships (past and present), parlance, alliteration, metaphor, characterization, spiritual faith, eschatology, and art. He relishes the challenge of poetic stylization: Rhythmical, Poetiprose, Triolets, Syllable formats, Story-Poems, Freeform, Haiku, Tanka, Haibun, and Acrostic. Richard has been nominated twice for the Pushcart Prize.
