\r\n\r\nTHROUGH A FOG (After Su Tung Po) <\/strong>\r\n\r\nWind rustles the leaves\r\nwith rough fingers,\r\nthen blows away.\r\nSilence is a muted scream.\r\nClouds look at nothing\r\nwhen they pass by\r\nlike men who\r\nno longer ask why.\r\nThe moon, once so bright,\r\nis a dim light\r\nin that immense sea,\r\nwhile I search for\r\nthings that are not to be.\r\n\r\nAFTER THE FALL (After Mei Yao Chen)<\/strong>\r\n\r\nDying flowers lie like corpses\r\nwith discolored heads.\r\nIf my wife were here,\r\nShe\u2019d try to revive them,\r\nbut she\u2019s also dead.\r\nNight holds me in its arms,\r\nas if I were a child,\r\nabandoned in a desolate spot.\r\nStars crawl across the sky\r\nlike bugs wandering\r\nlost and blind,\r\nover an infinite rug,\r\nLife is unkind.\r\nLife will never be how it was,\r\nbut I think the way it was\r\nwas only in my mind\r\n\r\nWISDOM (After Tu Fu)<\/strong>\r\n\r\nI stare at my unmade bed.\r\nOutside, a chilling breeze\r\nrustles the dead leaves,\r\nas if they were feathers.\r\nThe moon is a ball of lead.\r\nI gaze at distant stars,\r\nlost in the infinite sky,\r\nas if they had\r\nnowhere to abide.\r\nA torn shirt, hanging from\r\na tree, waves in the breeze,\r\nlike an abandoned flag,\r\nnow a tattered rag.\r\nI feel the approaching cold.\r\nI watch traffic pass me by,\r\nas if I were a stone.\r\nI\u2019ve learned \r\nwhat it means to become old.<\/pre>\n
