\r\nMountain Bird and Loquat<\/strong>\r\n\r\nChinese mountain bird's white belly hungers for sweet,\r\nthe fragrant yellow loquat magnets him.\r\nSteady perched midst fragile gnarled branches,\r\nnear enough to feed,\r\nyet he wavers uncertain,\r\nblack eyes quick dart all round\r\never mindful,\r\never searching\r\nlest he fall prey.\r\nHe longs for safety of nest\r\nbut loquat's aroma and sun-yellowed color again call.\r\nBravely he beaks through downy, red-blushed skin\r\nemboldened by succulent, tangy sweet white-yellow flesh\r\nhe repeats until full.\r\nNow soars skyward to home\r\nreadies for night\r\nwhile broken, sun-yellowed loquat remains\r\nexposed brown seeds weep ever earthward\r\nsacrificial in dimmed light. <\/pre>\n

\nRichard L Weissman<\/strong> has written fiction since 1987.
\nIn 2000, his theatrical play, \u201cThe Healing\u201d was selected by Abdingdon Theatre for a staged reading Off-Broadway.
\nRichard is the author of two Wiley Trading titles. His second book, Trade Like a Casino was selected as a Finalist for the 2012 Technical Analyst Book of the Year Award.

\nIn 2016, Mr. Weissman completed his historical novel in the tradition of magical realism, \u201cGenerations\u201d.
\n 
\nIn 2020 his poem, \u201cMountain Bird and Loquat\u201d was selected as the grand prize winner of the Florida Loquat Literary Festival.
\n
