\r\nDid we ever really exist\u00a0\r\nbefore this time,\u00a0\r\nthis place and space\r\nthis desire to frame everything\u00a0\r\nin doorway-shaped pictures\r\nthen rush to seek approval on networks\r\nof social acceptance\r\nplease like me\r\nplease like me\r\nplease like me\u2026\r\n\r\nWas my face really there\r\nbefore mirrors made it appear,\r\nto make it be so?\r\nAre there mirrors in Hell?\r\n\r\nWas beauty really there\r\nbefore PhotoShop\r\nlent it that airbrushed glow?\r\nHow can we ever tell?\r\n\r\nWas the ego\u00a0\r\nreally a thing\r\nbefore Zoom gave it\u00a0\r\na platform to shout from\r\n(while discreetly putting others\u00a0\r\non mute)?\r\n\r\nHow did apps ever survive\r\nwithout notification\r\nto bring motivation?\r\n\r\nLook, now her hair is pink\r\nand he has inked his arm\r\nthey have millions of shares\u2026\r\n\r\nbut your cat can sing and dance\r\nwith elegance and charm\r\nand yet, nobody cares. <\/pre>\n

\nSara Louise Russell, aka PinkyAndrexa, is a UK poet and poetry ezine editor, specialising particularly in sonnets, lyric-style poetry and occasionally writing in more modern styles. She founded Poetry Life & Times<\/em> and edited it from 1998 to 2006, when she handed it over to Robin Ouzman Hislop and Amparo Arrospide; Robin now runs it as Editor from Poetry Life & Times <\/em>at this site. Her poems and sonnets have been published in many paper and online publications including Sonnetto Poesia, Mindful of Poetry<\/em> and Autumn Leaves<\/em> a monthly Poetry ezine from the late Sondra Ball. Her sonnets also currently appear in the recently published anthology of sonnets Phoenix Rising from the Ashes<\/em>. She is also one of the first poets ever to be published on multimedia CD ROMs, published by Kedco Studios Inc.; the first one being \u201cPinky\u2019s Little Book of Shadows\u201d<\/em>, which was featured by the UK\u2019s national newspaper The Mirror<\/em>, in October 1999.
