\r\nLIKE THE BIRDS ON THE WIRES<\/strong>\r\n\r\n \r\nAs I walked I would occasionally\r\n\r\nLook up, up at the sky, up where\r\n\r\nThe birds ruled, home there to the\r\n\r\nLucky, those who can move in the\r\n\r\nBlink of one eye. \r\n\r\n \r\nThis time though the view was kind\r\n\r\nOf different; the birds had all\r\n\r\nCongregated, like musical notes on\r\n\r\nA line, along the telephone wire that\r\n\r\nKeeps us in touch with the outside world.\r\n\r\n \r\nIt was then I thought is that how\r\n\r\nLeonard Cohen came up with the\r\n\r\nWonderful lyrics to 'Bird on a Wire'\r\n\r\nBy looking up, up at the sky, drawing\r\n\r\nInspiration from a natural phenomenon.\r\n\r\n \r\nFALLING DOWN THE STAIRS<\/strong>\r\n\r\n \r\nThere were times when I would live\r\n\r\nA life, a wild time, and would often\r\n\r\nFind myself falling down those stairs\r\n\r\nAt the last resort out of my mind,\r\n\r\nAlways always out of my mind and\r\n\r\nLate at night as that was when this\r\n\r\nBeautiful gift always got me best\r\n\r\nAnd sometimes it would be 3-15\r\n\r\nIn the morning and I\u2019d be falling\r\n\r\nDown those damn stairs out of\r\n\r\nMy damn mind feeling like a cat\r\n\r\nAt the end of his ninth life.\r\n\r\n \r\nLIKE THOSE OLD DAYS (with my radio on)<\/strong>\r\n\r\n \r\nI sit here tonight and it\r\n\r\nAlmost feels like the old-times as\r\n\r\nMy radio builds up to one of the games of the year\r\n\r\nAs old footballers talk of teenagers\r\n\r\nTurning up to training in brand new\r\n\r\nShiny Mercedes-Benz as I sit here\r\n\r\nWriting a life so far removed from\r\n\r\nTheir gilded existence it just goes to\r\n\r\nShow you how capitalism has gone so\r\n\r\nTerribly wrong\u2026 <\/pre>\n

\nBIOGRAPHY
\n 
\n 
\nBradford Middleton<\/strong> was born in south-east London during the summer of 1971 and won his first poetry prize at the age of nine.  He then gave up writing poems for nearly twenty-five years and it wasn’t until he landed in Brighton, knowing no one and having no money, that he began again.  Ten years later and he’s been lucky enough to have had a few chapbooks published including a new one from Analog Submission Press entitled ‘Flying through this Life like a Bottle Battling Gravity’<\/em>, his debut from Crisis Chronicles Press (Ohio, USA) and his second effort for Holy & Intoxicated Press (Hastings, UK).  He has read around the UK at various bars, venues and festivals and is always keen to get out and read to new crowds.  His poetry has also been or will be published shortly in the Chiron Review, Zygote in my Coffee, Section 8, Razur Cuts, Paper & Ink, Grandma Moses ‘Poet to Notice’, Empty Mirror, Midnight Lane Gallery, Bareback Lit and is a Contributing Poet over at the wonderful Mad Swirl.
