\n 
\nBehavior Pattern
\n 
\nHuman nature
\nis often contrary,
\npeople refusing to listen,
\nwhen given instructions
\neven when it\u2019s life or death,
\ncongregating socially
\nin the narrowest part of the sidewalk
\nso it\u2019s difficult to pass,
\nlike the self-entitled
\nwho think they\u2019re privileged
\nexpecting preferential treatment
\ntrapped in middle class illusion,
\nand do not know nor care
\nthat most of the world
\nis trapped in poverty
\nwithout opportunity.
\n 
\n 
\nii.
\n 
\nIntrusion
\n 
\nSpringtime in the park.
\nOnly the homeless are overdressed
\nwearing all their clothing,
\ncarrying all their possessions
\nbecause they have nowhere to go
\nexcept a temporary bench,
\nmade uncomfortable
\nby the suspicious stares
\nof the more fortunate.
\n 
\n

\n 
\nTurmoil
\n 
\nDisasters sweep the world
\ncausing death and debilitation.
\nPowerful storms
\nlinger in memory
\nuntil prosperity
\nbreeds forgetting.
\nWar ravages many lands
\ndevastating entire peoples
\nrecovery almost impossible
\nwithout massive aid
\nrarely available
\nto most countries,
\nunless they have valuable assets
\nthat make them worth saving.
\n 
\n 
\niv.
\n 
\nMisconceptions
\n 
\nI heard a phrase today
\nI never heard before.
\n\u2018Cultural appropriation\u2019.
\nIt referred to a theatre production
\nin a foreign country
\nwhere the show was canceled
\nbecause white actors
\nplayed black cotton pickers,
\noffending profoundly
\nthe African-American ethos
\nthat whites should not play blacks.
\nPoor white sharecroppers once picked cotton,
\nso its not beyond ethnic possibility.
\nSome people are forgetting, or do not know,
\nan actors job is to fool the audience
\ninto believing he\/she is the character.
\nAn actor should play roles
\naccording to his\/her skills and talent.
\nWe wouldn\u2019t want a good black actor
\n to be deprived of playing Hamlet, Ophelia,
\njust because they\u2019re black.
\n

\nWinding Down
\n 
\nIn the nursing home
\nseniors come and go,
\nnot lingering long
\nbefore the last move
\nto final resting place.
