(i.)\r\n\r\nTough Luck\r\n\r\nThe ice was too thin\r\n             no one could help\r\nthe swan its foot caught\r\n             in ice on Walloon\r\n\r\nAll we could do is watch\r\n            or not watch\r\nas I chose to do\r\n\r\nIt was an eagle\r\n          my neighbor said\r\nthat finished it off\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<\/pre>\n
(ii.)\r\n\r\n\r\nFactory Boss<\/b>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\r\n\r\n                                  After <\/i>Henri Rouart in Front of His Factory,\r\n                                             a painting by Edgar Degas<\/i>\r\n\r\nHe is the pre<\/i> in post-industrial,\r\n            the buttonuped daddy of \u2018em all,\r\nthe tophatted, mustached, cigar smoker\r\n            who paid his workers in turkeys\r\nand Christmas ornaments.\r\n\r\nBehind him his factory is shuttered\u2014 \r\n            lonely as a Satie gymnopedie.\r\nHis workers port lunch pails,\r\n            peasant shirts soiled from\r\npoisonous toil in stacks of smoke.\r\n\r\nThis boss, the putrescence of production,\r\n            caresses the creases of his pants \r\nwhile his watch and fob dangle \r\n             from the pockets of his waistcoat.\r\n\r\nHis gaze knife-edged, he opens \r\n             the cover of his Elgin. \r\nIt\u2019s time, he thinks, for the second shift. \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<\/pre>\n
