Latifi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>SHEOL, SHEOL..<\/strong>*<br \/>\n<em>[A gender-free lament in plural]<\/em><\/p>\n<pre>\u00a0\r\nSongs sung to our lands. \r\nSongs of sorrow, screams, or sheer satisfaction, \r\nsung on our doorsteps.\r\n\u00a0\r\nSongs sung in foreign lands.\r\nTo those distant lands. \r\nSongs sung on doorsteps to those foreign lands, \r\nor songs of foreign lands on our doorsteps. \r\n(Everyone will, at some point, live a mental exile)\r\n\u00a0\r\nSongs, songs, songs\u2014endlessly; \r\nafter endlessness, yet another endlessness, \r\nwith different songs, \r\neven though still with the same screams...\r\n\u00a0\r\nNobody even thinks of migrating \r\naway from your catacombs, Sheol... \r\nNor away from your songs, either!\r\n\u00a0&nbsp;\r\n<em>*Sheol -the abode of the dead in early Hebrew thought.<\/em>\r\n &nbsp;\r\n<em>Translated from Albanian by Arben P. Latifi \u0336 born in 1961 in Kolonj\u00eb, Albania. A graduate of the History-Philology College, State University of Tirana [1985]; MA degree in English Language Arts &amp; Teaching [Graduation thesis: &#8220;A Comparative Analysis of the Albanian Translations of &#8220;King Lear&#8221; and &#8220;Richard III&#8221; by Sk\u00ebnder Luarasi.&#8221;]Postgraduate studies in Diplomacy and International Trade [1987-88]. Teaching career comprises a wide range of locations [Albania, USA, Oman, China] and age groups [from young learners to adults].
