\nYellow makes a case for exclamation
\npoints and plastic.
\nRed
\n 
\nlights a flare.
\n 
\nOrange is loved but unexpected, unplanned,
\nnearly a clearing or sauce.
\nPurple

\nis nobody\u2019s child.
\n 
\nI sign up to conduct an experiment and end
\nup measuring rainbows,
\neulogizing

\nwhite mice, eating lunch by myself.

\nof the alphabet has golden wings.

\nI think about ping-pong.
\nI think about falling.

\nWhippoorwills and babies
\nfly around the room.

\nWe played in the abandoned clock
\nfactory.

\nWe chased each other the way squirrels
\nchase Russian spies.

\nWe smoked Granddad\u2019s pipe
\nand tried on Mother\u2019s dresses.

\nIt was the best
\nof times and the wurst.

\nWe ate liver spread on white bread
\nwith yellow mustard

\nand bested the spies
\nwho worsted the moose.

\nGardens bloomed
