You wonder why I\u2019m this way.
\nIt\u2019s not just because of the way you are.
\nIt\u2019s bad programming, flat tires,
\nmy family, my job,
\nbody hair, and boring sex,
\ncracked mirrors, plastic straws, Trump \u2013
\nand there\u2019s more \u2013
\nlids that refuse to unscrew,
\nsongs on the radio,
\nloud neon scenery,
\nthe unsuspected sharpness of some blades,
\nspam and junk-mail,
\nthe bus system, the crappy WiFi,
\nthe pain I have to overcome,
\nKardashians, heavy traffic,
\ntasteless fast food, aggressive panhandlers,
\nfood coloring, superhero movies,
\nthe siren eyes of alcohol,
\nbusted guitar strings, empty ink cartridges,
\nlines of reasoning, rusty pipes.
\nhumidity, bills, neighbors,
\nthe borrowed book that\u2019s never returned,
\nthe never again good times,
\nFox news, a friend\u2019s divorce,
\nreligions that kill,
\nthat render their believers brain dead,
\nthe cost of replenishing those ink cartridges,
\ndentists, big game hunters, Brad Pitt,
\nthe worn-out soles of my shoes,
\ncigarette butts strewn across the lawn,
\ndog shit on the sidewalk,
\nsome long ago incident that
\noccupies the space between us.
\nIt won\u2019t leave,
\nwould rather stay,
\nbe more annoying than the competition.<\/p>\n
