Drinking ice tea in the<\/p>\n

Bogachiel Rain Forest,<\/p>\n

relaxing in retirement,<\/p>\n

observing the Salmon<\/p>\n

run along the Skokomish,<\/p>\n

bald & golden eagles soar<\/p>\n

high above, wait for harbor<\/p>\n

seals to capture fresh fish,<\/p>\n

climb aboard wooden rafts,<\/p>\n

& steal the slippery bright<\/p>\n

pink prey for themselves or<\/p>\n

possibly feed hungry eaglets.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Large driftwood logs<\/p>\n

float down the river\u2019s throat,<\/p>\n

anchoring themselves<\/p>\n

along the Hood Canal\u2019s<\/p>\n

warm salt water shoreline;<\/p>\n

mosquitoes breed abundantly<\/p>\n

while skittish bullfrogs<\/p>\n

stridently soldier vociferous<\/p>\n

appetites in concrete storm<\/p>\n

drains\u2014conduits emptying<\/p>\n

into the sound\u2014shielding them<\/p>\n

from sharp-eyed predators<\/p>\n

scouring sand & stone for food.
