\nCocktails to be served at five in the eve
\nin a room ornate with illustrious chandeliers
\nimported crystals shining of artificial suns.
\n
\nBoasting pearls, diamonds and rubies she descended
\nprincess among royalty in make believe worlds
\nher breast heaved with the power of intimate convictions.
\n
\nA deep breath held within her chest
\npleading for patience in a room stuffed with smoke
\npretenses and empty vanity she dreamed of freedom.
\n
\nPerhaps another would appear rejected next door
\ntoo attached to the liberty of youthful years
\nchoosing instead to shred the tuxedos of success.
\n
\nShe imagines herself atop desolate islands
\nnear and far without lace, precious metals or fame
\nfree in a white shroud dedicated to the world.
\n
\nMingling with the semblances of peers
\nthey brush against the pure skin of her innocence
\nunable to make contact as she continues to the gates.
\n
\nA gaze constant upon the abandoned domains
\nher soul smiles for she steps into her dream
\nmade of pains joys and true healings.
\n
\nWithout a look back to those well-dressed ghosts
\nshe shed the million-dollar evening gown
\nto enter as upon her birth within a fitting kingdom.
