\n‘The guests from the heavenly vault: stars, moon, sun, comets, feed my words and provide them with a relentless lymph. So do the many spots, and people whom I happen to stumble upon. So do fragments from conversations I happen to have overheard. My irrepressible longing for reshaping all of them in a new different life, so as to give them a fresh soul, is the drive enabling my words to be invaded by that green fuse we might think of as the very life and soul of poetry.’ (Gabriella Garofalo)

\nA bit of advice, blue works best if you need
\nTo creep in on the sly, it\u2019s the latest fad,
\nPeeking at the stunning shows of some wannabe star,
\nNobody cares about oceans or skies –
\n\u2018Course you\u2019re right, no bloody reason
\nTo wake up and listen to a breathing night,
\nHer lips mumbling in fractured whispers
\n\u2018Please God, don\u2019t play dirty\u2019,
\nBut mind, you might chance on a runner in the blue,
\nA soul clad to the nines who scatters across the sky
\nSome bright twinkling lights,
\nA warning sign of a blessed hour that atones for naked souls,
\nBuildings rising up and wild, dark curtains blocking us
\nFrom talking to hidden stars who foster no desire
\nFor stony blindness or witty repartees –
\nHead to him, fear not the ashes,
\nThe glimpse of perfection, the shades of missing time,
\nFor he\u2019ll shape demise into a sunny spot
\nWhere the candles we thought snuffed out
\nRun back to life in silence –
\nAnd no more shades of yellow, mind,
\nThe fire that wound words thrown to the sea –
\nCan\u2019t you hear those winged voices, the blaze of memory
\nInside your time when the clock strikes one
\nAnd your night pleads innocent before her looming exile:
\nTrust me, no help from flesh or pleas,
\nTeardrops of white quartz and scraps from the sea
\nLie on the stones waiting for you, some gifts for you?
\nStop that rubbish, girl, they\u2019ll give you only
\nInfinite rooms, revolving doors, what\u2019s autumn but a witch
\nWho\u2019s shedding blood and life away?
\nSo, does it work? I mean, the light blue fragrance
\nScenting the playful writing of my pen?
\nOh so sorry, I dunno and can\u2019t even hope so.
