\nMy family seems
\nPerplexed with
\nThe kind of person
\nI\u2019ve become.
\nHow I live,
\nThese hands of mine,
\nMy fingernails and rings,
\nThis old pea-coat and worn shoes,
\nThe weatherworn skin, and long hair\u2026
\nBut look at me,
\nWhat do you see?
\nAre these the EYES of insanity?
\nNO! They\u2019re not! They\u2019re the EYES
\nOf \u2018I don\u2019t give a shit\u2019 anymore\u2026
\nYou copy that?
\n 
\nOh…
\nSorry ’bout it.
\nI\u2019m plain-spoken.
\nWhat\u2019s that?
\nYou don\u2019t care?
\nYou want me to be open?

\nI\u2019m a Vet.

\nBattle of HO BO Woods\u2019 what changed me,
\n1966. 1st Bn, 27th Rgt, 25th Division. 25 killed,
\n32 wounded, ceptin\u2019 me, I lived. Me!
\nWhat\u2019s that? An occupation?
\nYeah!
\nI was a Professor of Philosophy and
\nEconomics for fifteen years before
\nThe pricks punched my number.
\nWhy?
\nNever really knew.
\nToo forthright I guess.
\nI realized early on I was training young
\nPeople to be slaves in a soulless machine
\nWhose only purpose was to churn out Automatons
\nFor the global work-market and a lifetime
\nOf servitude and tax paying, so I began
\nTeaching what the students needed
\nTo be creative happy citizens;
\nBut them a\u2019 holes didn\u2019t like that\u2026
\n 
\nWhat\u2019s that?
\nMy name?
\nWhiskey Sierra Papa!
\nYeah! That\u2019s my name.
\nWhat?
\nMy personal philosophy?
\nAre you kidding me?
\nReally?
\nWanna nip \u2018a hooch first?
\nNo?
\nWell\u2026 ok.
\nHere\u2019s to ya\u2019 stinkpot.
\n 
\nSo here\u2019s how I see it\u2026
\nI began
\nIn convergence
\nJust like every other human,
\nA divine revelation, (perhaps) or
\nA sperm lucky enough to find the egg,
\nThe passions of MALE and FEMALE merging,
\nA momentary lapse of morals
\n(Possibly)
\nFinding a kind of fruition,
\nWithout scrupulous filtering,
\nOr evolutionary impediments,
\nOr something more cryptic
\nTo equivocate things even more,
\n 
\nI became something unique,
\nBIRTHED
\nJust like you,
\nAgainst all odds
\nAnd all wars that
\nRaged against possibility,
\nI became ME (in a world of ME\u2019s)
\nEndeavoring to be apprehended, in
\nSpite of all booby traps and busybodies\u2026
\n 
\nEver coping to realize
\nA consummate expression,
\n(Whether accepted or not)
\nAnother ego espousing humility,
\nAn idealist treed in a shitty-system
\nRepudiating man\u2019s despairing struggle to
\nBe more than just a hollow-sound in a global
\nVillage of meez and yuze vying to one up
\nThe swarms of prigs all maneuvering to
\nLord it over everyone around them,
\n 
\nYEAH! That\u2019s how Whiskey Sierra Papa sees it.
\nHuh? Sum it up?
\n 
\nOk! On and on it goes, pal,
\nIn this world of friends and foes,
\nAnd regardless where the river flows,
\nAnd despite who thinks I\u2019m just another
\nWayward f\u2026 who made a lotta bad choices,
\nI have found this one concept truly unfeigned,
\nThat until MY leaf falls from the tree,
\nI will continue being ME\u2026 Dig it!

BIOGRAPHY<\/span><\/p>\n

Richard is the progeny of Swedish and Norwegian immigrants. He was born in Chicago Illinois. Richard began his journey into the arts at age six. For twelve years he played classical trumpet. The British incursion of music, however, influenced him to put down the trumpet and take-up acoustic and electric guitar, and, to write songs and lyrics. He toured professionally for ten years. In 1995 Richard was privileged to design and build his own Midi-centered Recording Studio ~ Taylor & Grace ~ where he worked diligently until 2002. During that time he composed, and multi-track recorded, over 500 compositions and has two CD\u2019s (\u2018WHAT LOVE HAS DONE\u2019 and \u2018THE PATH\u2019) to his personal credit.
\n.
\nRichard\u2019s interest in writing continues. His poetic invention is integrative and employs various elements: nature, history, relationships (past and present), parlance, alliteration, metaphor, characterization, spirituality, faith, eschatology, art, and subtext. Avoiding the middle-road; he enjoys the challenge of poetic stylization: Rhythmical, Poetic\/Prose, Triolets, Syllable formats, Story-Poems, Freeform, Haiku, Tanka, Haibun, and Acrostic. Richard\u2019s work has been (and is) featured in a wide variety of anthologies, compendiums, and e-zines including: Poetry Life and Times, Artvilla, Motherbird, and The Path. Richard was nominated twice for the Pushcart Prize.
