\nOnce upon a time
\nA verdant originative landscape
\nApportioned gems of creative insight
\nTo all seekers, freely, without compunction,
\nAnd uniqueness of individuality was adopted as
\nIntelligently sought after development burgeoned…
\nIt was a magical place thriving as
\nA field of geodes broken open in wonderment,
\nPeople, as special treasures, imbibed as nourishment,
\nWorking collectively to instigate a better world, to heal,
\nTo enlighten, to entertain, offering insight into
\nRealms unknown…
\nIt was a time
\nFilled with colorful purpose
\nWhich thrived and shown as the sun…
\nIn it people shared and responded
\nAs a community respectfully
\nImbued with aethers scent,
\nAncient folklores
\nTickling
\nTantalizing
\nCreative souls unthreatened
\nBy another\u2019s inexplicable penchants
\nAnd all on the cutting edge of breaking waves
\nSharing honestly in whiteness of spirit
\nUnthreatened without agenda
\nWithout hatefulness
\nOr any desire to feel superior to all the
\nFlowers majestically carpeting similar fields…

\nBut despite all the good
\nAlong came the spider and
\nThe subtleness of degradation
\nCast its spell furtively,
\nA drop here
\nA drop there
\nA pinch of leaven
\nSubverting foundations
\nFixed in a place unguarded
\nAn unkind word stomached
\n2 unkind words getting even
\nEndeavoring after easy money
\nTerritory pissed on and killed for,
\nYouth tattooed, scarred, perverted,
\nDirectionless, dead, or incarcerated
\nAberrant hoods regarded sacrosanct, a
\nMelting pot of democratic mayhem flailing,
\nThe prejudicial redirection of Light and Truth
\nBy all naysayers and intellects, a Modern clerisy
\nAllowing the onset of grays and alternative-people
\nTo lessen output in an anything goes society polluted
\nWith cretins offering execrations to diminished deities
\nWith hollow chanted words, fingering illusory rhythms,
\nMachiavellian ideas malignant
\nIn shitholes, predators
\nTaking snort at
\nThe next line of blow
\nBopping in blurs of whimsy
\nAround the smirking golden calf
\nSystem bound puppets drooling as a
\nRandomly placed arrow pierces the third eye of sanity
\nAnd all frolicking in and around the Carnac Stones and every
\nOther megalithic rock edifice where mysterious geo-magnetic
\nMeridians interlace the Earth in an ancient World Wide Web
\nHave we been down this road before?

\nBIOGRAPHY<\/span><\/p>\n

Richard is the progeny of Swedish and Norwegian immigrants. He was born in Chicago Illinois. Richard began his journey into the arts at age six. For twelve years he played classical trumpet. The British incursion of music, however, influenced him to put down the trumpet and take-up acoustic and electric guitar, and, to write songs and lyrics. He toured professionally for ten years. In 1995 Richard was privileged to design and build his own Midi-centered Recording Studio ~ Taylor & Grace ~ where he worked diligently until 2002. During that time he composed, and multi-track recorded, over 500 compositions and has two CD\u2019s (\u2018WHAT LOVE HAS DONE\u2019 and \u2018THE PATH\u2019) to his personal credit.
\n 
\nRichard\u2019s interest in writing continues. His poetic\u00a0invention is integrative and employs various elements: nature, history, relationships (past and present), parlance, alliteration, metaphor, characterization, spirituality, faith, eschatology, art, and subtext. Avoiding the middle-road; he enjoys the challenge of poetic stylization: Rhythmical, Poetic\/Prose, Triolets, Syllable formats, Story-Poems, Freeform, Haiku, Tanka, Haibun, and Acrostic. Richard\u2019s work has been (and is) featured in a wide variety of anthologies, compendiums, and e-zines including: Poetry Life and Times, Artvilla, Motherbird, and The Path. Richard was nominated twice for the Pushcart Prize.
