She was my warrior queen,
\nPrincess of my past world.
\nNaive was her royal reign.
\nArmed with an eye on the world.
\nWalking through tepid grassland
\nOf spears, toil, buried breath and aged gossip –
\nDismantling a garrison of
\nTuareg foot marching fighters.
\nHer temper was ancient goose,
\nIn a flash of lightning.
\nTending love with great value,
\n
\nAnguish called her, home.
\nWithin a heart that vibrated in it’s casement.
\nI recognise her from the past,
\nFrom the foot of creation.
\n527 years gone and counting,
\nIn a countryside Egypt.
\nBut I died in her hands, Itabosuwa.
\nMy blood dribbled and stirred,
\nFrom her immaculate white frock,
\nLeaving a cesspool of anguish,
\nIn her widowing youthful heart.
\nMy love for her was a road,
\nWith an abrupt dead end.
\nThis underage princess from antiquity,
\nNow relives her past glory, differently.
\nAll forgotten in a macabre,
\nIn a modern breathless tale of love.
\nShe takes her place,
\nBeside my merchant self:
\nA modern Nigerian,
\nNot knowing the story of our ancient love.<\/p>\n
