\ntonight in your gallery of squalor,
\nyour face hidden by chiaroscuro
\nblemishes from a performer’s life:
\nOh those wrinkles & shriveled crevices
\n
\nNow adorn the snake’s mottled skin
\na thousand fingers brusquely trip
\nthe malice of broken bones over
\nyour elusive figure the drum sways
\nthinking of all those closeted skeletons
\nthird world victims rise from gravestones
\n
\nTo dance at the Rock concert for peace
\n& a justice they never got living
\nin humanity’s truncated evolution.
\nTheir dusty clothing reeks of decay,
\nlittle children hold noses watching
\nthis massive dance of desperation
\n
\nAs Tove Lo sings them finally to sleep
\nthe night watchman rubs his eyes
\nwhile cleaning crews grimly vacuum
\nthe lost sounds of silent bodies,
\nthe peaceful concert now
\nforever over, at last.
\n
