SNOW MAKES THE MAD GIRL ALMOST SUICIDAL
\n 
\nhow it glazes,
\nseals what\u2019s a stain
\nin like dirt under poly
\nso each foot print upstairs
\nglides over scars. The
\ncold drifts, makes a
\nmaze of walks, tunnels
\nwhere knives could be
\npointed like icicles over
\nthe door way. No ballet
\ndancer with electric
\npointed shoes, or a tutu
\nof fleece could warm
\nher. So slippery, her ankle
\nsnaps while in the night
\ndiesel trucks collide
\nwith over turned 12
\nwheelers under her hair,
\ntheir undersides twitching
\nin smoke like zapped wasps
\n 
\nSNOW MAKES THE MAD GIRL SUICIDAL
\n 
\ngerrymandering what\u2019s slippery into space she can\u2019t
\navoid, every part of her\u2019s a junkie going
\ncold turkey, starved for heat. She shakes, a
\nblue spreads over her. She dreams
\nof bougainvillea, gardenia, figs. White\u2019s
\nthe color bandages, diapers, feet of the dead.
\nShe wants jades, tourmalines, sapphires, rubies
\njags of flame and teal, a gypsy swirl, castanets.
\nNo more colorless dirge of snow burying, disguising,
\nbut heat, a jungle rain where skin smells like
\nskin and locusts hum toward dawn, a gladiolus
\nwind, thighs luminous as bones dipped in
\ntinsel and glitter
\n 
\nSNOW MAKES THE MAD GIRL SUICIDAL
\n 
\nfangs of ice, too cold
\nfor even blues to breathe.
\nWhite suffocates, a town
\nburied behind her wrists.
\nRoofs collapse, cars under
\nmounds like bodies the
\nground was too hard to dig
\ninto left on battlefields.
\nIce crystals freeze in the air,
\na halo of edges, a tilt to one
\nside, a falling into the daze,
\ninto the flare of light as
\nglass splatters, could
\nblind her for good
\n 
\nSNOW MAKES THE MAD GIRL SUICIDAL
\n 
\npossibilities, freeze dried,
\nzapped, trapped like crystals
\npoisonous as HIV virus twisted
\nto a halo. She moves and it
\nmoves with her, a too heavy
\ncologne heavy as guilt. Ease,
\nalready frayed, freezes in the
\nshape of splinters. She feels
\nthat brittle, feels herself running
\ntoward a fire only her feet are
\nglued to glass. She\u2019s a spun glass
\nrose bud vase in the car for days
\nhot water is poured into and
\nshe cracks
\n

\nisolates, a moat of
\ncolorlessness, barb
\nwire of ice. She tried
\nto pull from the house
\nof cold, but the cold
\nseers, burns where
\nshe\u2019s pressed. Scars.
\nThe snow terrifies.
\nWhere she stands,
\ntoo slippery to hold
\nher and the roof\u2019s
\nabout to bury her in
\nbed, catch her screams
\nlike lips in lava<\/strong>
