\nlike beads of fallen mercury
\nto roll across the desert sands,
\npathways to Giza, Luxor, Cairo,
\nand Alexandria,
\nhome to antiquity and myth, kingdom of the pharoahs,
\npyramidal necropolii dotting an arid landscape,
\nbaking under the fiery glare
\nof an unblinking solar eye,
\nnext-generation optical disc,
\nwaiting for the Summoning,
\nfor the Call,
\nwaiting for the Sacred, for a Benediction
\nfrom a polytheistic overworld
\nof New non-secular Gods,
\nthe pantheon of the IMF, BASF,
\nMicrosoft, Apple, Oracle,
\nExxon-Mobile, CitiBank,
\nDaimler-Chrysler, Sony,
\nand McDonald’s,
\nwaiting
\nas the orchestra of voices gather,
\nventing their passions, like Opera,
\n“Look, Ye Unworthy, upon my works, and know
\nthis high-definition storage media format
\nwill spread the glory of the blue-violet laser
\nacross the face of Heaven,
\nan interstitial data sector
\nstriped across the disk-array
\nof a Cloud-based
\nApplication Server Farm,
\nwhere the tears of the Mighty
\nfall like acid rain!”
