\nShe had a baked potato\u00a0
\nWith roasted veg\u00a0
\nAnd humus.\u00a0
\n\u00a0 
\nThe knife and fork remained on the table\u00a0
\nShe held a tissue instead\u00a0\u00a0
\nBoth her face and hands were tight\u00a0\u00a0
\nWith emotion and anger.\u00a0
\n\u00a0 
\nHe had the same thing to eat\u00a0
\nAll his face gave away was the fact he would rather be anywhere else\u00a0
\nBut there.\u00a0
\n \u00a0
\nChristmas music filled the room; the rain battered the world outside.\u00a0
\n\u00a0 
\nHer plate was still full\u00a0
\nAs his got smaller\u00a0
\nBite by bite.\u00a0
\n\u00a0 
\n\u2018It is just so very hard this time of year\u2019\u00a0
\n \u00a0
\nThrough potato and carrot\u00a0
\nHe told her\u00a0
\nThat everything would be okay\u00a0
\nThen a drink of coke\u00a0
\nBefore asking why she was crying.\u00a0
\n \u00a0
\n\u2018I\u2019m emotional today, that\u2019s all\u2019\u00a0
\n \u00a0
\nThe steam had stopped rising on from her plate\u00a0
\nHis was now clean.\u00a0
\n\u00a0 
\n\u2018I want to feel special, like how I thought we were going to be in the beginning\u2019\u00a0

\nHe scrunched up the tissue\u00a0
\nAfter wiping what was left of his dinner
\nFrom his mouth,
\nHe said\u00a0
\nIt is, it will be.\u00a0

\nThat the fire was slowly dying.
