\nSometimes we all need a swift, sharp kick
\nto knock us from our pedestals \u2013
\nI must admit that I am not the man
\nI once was a thief and now I am a murderer,
\nI quit smoking weed &
\nI quit smoking cigarettes &
\nI quit drinking beer &
\nI quit drinking caffeine &
\nI quit eating bread &
\nI quit eating cheese &
\nnone of it made a blind bit of difference,
\nso now I\u2019m eating and drinking what I like &
\nif I never smoke again then my lungs will thank me
\neven as my heart explodes.
\n 
\nYour life is your life &
\nmy life is my life &
\nwhen the bastards try to tell you otherwise,
\ndon\u2019t let them get you down,
\nwe\u2019re all in this big, long find together &
\ncasualties define a war, even if the
\nwar is always pointless,
\ndeath is always around us on the roads &
\nin the graveyards we used to drink in &
\nat the front of our minds when we think about the future.
\n 
\nHow can you bring a child in to this world
\nwhen the sun will swallow us all &
\nthe expanding cosmos, unconscious, won\u2019t stop to blink &
\namitriptyline citalopram lithium &
\nvalium take the edge off but do nothing
\nto alter the grim inevitability that surrounds us all?
\n 
\nThat\u2019s why I envy the men and women,
\nthe sheep and the shepherds who watch TV &
\nwho never even write their names &
\nwho never see the wolf behind my eyelids.
\n 
\nLadies & gentlemen,
\nsilence please;
\nwhen the atmosphere collapses
\nwe are released from the clasp of gravity
\nall oxygen violently sucked from our lungs
\nas the seas boil & return to barren nothingness,
\nas our master race breathes one last sigh and expires,
\nI will remember you like this,
\na calm, silent breeze on a cool spring day.
