\nThe homeless poet<\/p>\n

stood outside the bar<\/p>\n

in the cold<\/p>\n

talking to anyone<\/p>\n

who would listen.
\n 
\n 
\nHe held a stack of papers<\/p>\n

in his hands<\/p>\n

that he gave away<\/p>\n

to anyone who showed<\/p>\n

the slightest interest.
\n 
\n 
\nHe said they were free,<\/p>\n

but anyone with half a heart<\/p>\n

would give him a buck or two,<\/p>\n

or at least some coins,<\/p>\n

just enough for a cup of coffee.
\n 
\n 
\nHe was a guru<\/p>\n

in his own peculiar way,<\/p>\n

and his words<\/p>\n

were laced with a type<\/p>\n

of apocalyptic strangeness \u2013<\/p>\n

full of velvet angels<\/p>\n

with dark chocolate wings<\/p>\n

receding down from heaven<\/p>\n

to punish the normal<\/p>\n

and bring chaos to the meek.
\n 
\n 
\nHe was all mixed up inside,<\/p>\n

but that was his role to play,<\/p>\n

and it was all perfect,<\/p>\n

and it was all beautiful \u2013<\/p>\n

whether he found a bed,<\/p>\n

or whether he died in the street,
\n 
\n 
\nit was all ok,<\/p>\n

because the angels were coming either way.<\/strong>

\nScott Thomas Outlar lives a simple life in the suburbs, spending the days flowing and fluxing with the tide of the Tao River, marveling at the intricacies of life’s existential nature, and writing prose-fusion poetry dedicated to the Phoenix Generation.
