Sometimes I can\u2019t be arsed with poetry<\/b><\/span><\/span>\r\nand syllables that crash when they should dance<\/b><\/span><\/span>\r\nlike marionettes pulled by industry<\/b><\/span><\/span>\r\nor inspiration due to muse or chance.<\/b><\/span><\/span>\r\nAnd what\u2019s the point of words however good?<\/b><\/span><\/span>\r\nDoes anyone read them and fall in love<\/b><\/span><\/span>\r\nor curse them, gut them, spill or drink their blood?<\/b><\/span><\/span>\r\nSave poets and critics, who gives a shove?<\/b><\/span><\/span>\r\nI tell you, some days I would rather think<\/b><\/span><\/span>\r\nmyself a man moved more by luck than verse<\/b><\/span><\/span>\r\nor plumb pipes together than words that stink:<\/b><\/span><\/span>\r\nat least dignity\u2019s there in fuller purse.<\/b><\/span><\/span>\r\nAnd what\u2019s a sonnet but weight round your neck?<\/b><\/span><\/span>\r\nAn afternoon\u2019s work or a lifetime\u2019s check?<\/b><\/span><\/span>\r\n\r\nDavid Seddon<\/b><\/span><\/span>\r\n\r\nDavid Seddon <\/span><\/span>has been writing poetry and sonnets for over 30 years. \r\nHe is from Liverpool in the North West of England and is a member\r\nof various poetry groups in that area. Among other venues, his poetry\r\nhas appeared in various anthologies, and in <\/span><\/span>Ink Sweat and Tears, \r\nObsessed with Pipework, Other Poetry, Poetry in the Waiting Room, \r\nPoetry Scotland, Sonnetto Poesia<\/i><\/span><\/span>  and <\/span><\/span>Under the Radar<\/i><\/span><\/span>. He has  a BA in \r\nPhilosophy and an  MA and Diploma in Counselling.
