\na mantra to be ruminated over
\nlike a submerged leek
\nbecoming tender in warm water.
\nas it seems to me
\nall as vanished
\nfrom our worlds
\ngalaxies
\nand
\ncliques.
\nmuch poetry has propelled
\ninto the bellowing mushroom cloud
\nof noxious gas.
\nEarth has garnished her seedlings
\nas the trees convulse in 4\/5 time
\nleading scholars to compendious shame;
\nshaking with violence muttering
\nintellectual gibberish
\nto the delight of the spittle
\nforced out with the saying of it,
\nbut what about me
\nthe reporter,
\nthe documenter of my purview,
\nwhat do I make of anything now
\nI say to myself in this pallid skin,
\nin these pallid days.
\nperhaps I should go tell it on the mountain,
\ngiven the effulgence of effort
\nnot merely in mind
\nbut of the being
\ndirecting my reticent walk
\nout of a crawling crowd.<\/strong>
