\n 
\nBefore her there is a stone circle
\nThe meaning of which is unclear
\nBut it has been here for thousands of millennia
\n 
\nIt is not well known, even unknown
\nBut when the sun rises, the shadows cast
\nSurround her as she sleeps; gentle wraiths
\n 
\nWhispering in the low cloud, like distant thunder
\nBut this is always as afternoon opens its door
\nNow, as dawn hazes into morning and midday
\n 
\nShe rises to a clear sky, and the shadows are short
\nThe deer have eaten and the birds have flown
\nBut she does not render movement from her pose
\n 
\nBut she does drink in the whirling breeze
\nDelving into buttercup, white daisy and wild geranium
\nShe does embrace another chance to live
\n 
\nBut she is not breathing, she has no blood
\nTears do not well up in her eyes of their own accord
\nFor that the heavens must open in abundant rain
\n 
\nBut not tonight; the sky is heavy with condensation
\nThe air itself wicks the salty emotion of betrayal
\nThe statue of Gaia is taken down; she will miss the stones
\n 
\nBefore her there is a soft, old cloth; she cannot see
\nBut she detects the odour of musk and storage
\nShe hears the crack of wood as her crate is moved
\n 
\nBefore Man, there is a stone circle, though not only of stone
\nBut of concrete, plastic, glass, aluminium and steel
\nIt has been here for decades, if not a hundred years
\n 
\nSome men rise to the Owl and fall to the Lark
\nThe meaning of day and night is gone for them
\nBut they still seek supper and sleep, even as the sun warms
\n 
\nIt is not well known, even unknown
\nBut when the day dawns, and the people commute
\nThey are surrounded in shadow; gentle wraiths
\n 
\nWaiting to caress their eyelids back to slumber
\nBut Man is agitated, he is constant in his fight
\nHe cannot stand still, there is no room for pause
\n 
\nBut when will he breath, is there blood pumping to his heart
\nAre their tears in his eyes before the rains fall
\nDoes he remember the statue of Gaia, he once carved
\n 
\nBefore us there is a veil of ignorance, of intolerance
\nOf disrespect, of discrimination, even betrayal of Nature
\nBut is there no hope, no remembrance, no emotion
\n 
\nWorking days end, weekends arrive, Gaia beckons
\nBut only for those who raise their downcast eyes
\nWho open the wooden crate and unfurl the old, soft cloth
\n 
\nBefore her the stone circle is set out once more
\nMan lays upon Mother Earth as the shadows rise
\nLate into a summer evening, they are reunited, no buts
\n 
\nNever the less, it is not well known, even unknown
\nThat when the sun rises and gentle wraiths surround us
\nEach shadow of each stone is Gaia to every Man
\n 
\nBefore me there is a stone circle
\nThe meaning of which is clear
\nThough my single life may pass, I will always be here<\/strong>
