\nWe hiked west through the woods
\nto the tunes of an old Chinese FM radio.
\nFar away, far away from the anguish
\nof the malnourished children
\nscouring railway tracks for food
\nthat may have fallen from passing trains.
\n 
\nFar away, far away from the smell
\nof the rot and sewage of an industrial charade.
\nFar away, far away from the massacre
\nin the Narayanhiti
\nand the Ceausescu\u2019s celibacy tax.
\n 
\nFar away , very far away from the
\nechoes of those black churches in America
\nwhere worshipers are seized by the Holy Spirit.
\n 
\nWe hiked west through the woods.
\n 
\nAnxious, exhausted, frail,
\nwe sat around a log fire,
\non the edge of the forests
\nchatting and visualizing a different
\nvision of the future.
\n 
\nBut after a while,
\nthe profusion
\nof sights and sounds
\nnear the flower market
\nin the Ason Bazaar
\ninvited us home yet again.
\n 
\n 
\nWe can\u2019t hike forever, can we?
