\nAnts may bite, they climb and fill
\nrooms, the walls may have the stains of the flood,
\nthe mattress naked without sheets,
\nhatchet hacked our phones,
\nthe leftovers sit there on the plate,
\nchoices on the straight dead end road,
\ncinders sit on our head , paint your mind
\non the arrow to follow, juggle and balance,
\nmeet their small hands, the red dresses,
\nwe sit on a bench, not facing each other,
\nput on the shoes, walk on water,
\nfix her hair in a braid,
\nthe handstand to wear as a pendant,
\nour masks to fix on our heads,
\nher dress wears the image, the salt shaker
\nrusty with use, the diffused memories
\nerase in the background. <\/strong>

\nBenedict Downing has written fiction, poetry since his adolescence. He joined local community reading circles, workshops, college literary groups, and ventured into his own. Has published fiction and poetry in literary magazines and journals. He is currently working in his second novel.
