\n 
\nBeauty is unfortunately beauty
\nAnd beauty is unfortunately everywhere,
\n 
\nIn the marches, the parades,
\nThe uniforms, and the way flags blow,
\n 
\nIn the barbs of wire set out
\nAgainst mountain landscapes,
\n 
\nThe orderly rows of stone crosses,
\nBut worse is beauty and the sublime mixing
\n 
\nTo show up together wearing horrors
\nStitched into their skins,
\n 
\nHiding under the gunfire music,
\nOr the impressionist clouds,
\n 
\nIt can emerge in the delicate hands
\nOf concentration camp children,
\n 
\nFrail palms combined in black and white
\nTo form the shape of a heart,
\n 
\nThe mix will not come here so easily,
\nOut to these belts in and around the cities,
\n 
\nIt will not settle on top of the stores
\nBlocked together in neon and cement,
\n 
\nHere everything is practical,
\nEfficiently wasted and exhausted,
\n 
\nNo song comes out the car horn,
\nNo poetry comes out the nearby speakers,
\n 
\nBut sometimes the pair can thrive here,
\nAnd not just framed in a gallery,
\n 
\nThey might settle down beside the corpse
\nOf a suicide completed after a fall
\n 
\nFrom an observation deck to a car roof,
\nLeaving a face at rest in a sea of twisted metal.
