\nIt would be useless for us to wonder
\nwhy the summer joined us as a nest
\nof woven hair between its bright hands
\nto decipher the emblem of the name
\nover fields of wheat,
\nto open in branches
\nto the wakes of chance,
\nor the fated date,
\nwhich summoned us there
\nor by whom.
\nTo know? What for?
\nTo feel, know and no more!
\nEverything still lives
\nand is sufficient now
\nbecause the skin of this truth
\nmakes the word and time translucent.

\nThe dovecote. The island. A bonfire of honey
\nwhere only we listened to the murmur of the light.
\nLike that morning
\nseeping through the earth today was music
\nits white aroma canvass in the arc
\nof memory
\nthat recognizes an identical space
\nyet distinct
\nin which dwelt the miracle:
\nhere grew an ivy
\nveins of surprises,
\nthe bay a burst
\nin a clamor of quartz
\nand the still pool grew
\nyellow flowers.
\n 
\nNow, we will never die.
\nIn spite of the pain we will never die.
\nEven though surrender is a flight
\nof full hands and nimble feet
\nand even though the world scarcely lasts
\nthe absolute caress
\nof transparently winged truth.
\nHow sad temporal chords of perfection!

\nBut listen to the voice
\nborn discarded
\nin the cave:
\nwe cross its moss green lips
\nand descend laughing into its dark spring
\nof desolation.

\nDestiny left the door half-open
\nand we learnt from its hinge
\nthe rusted song of complaint:
\nrags of charity initiated us.
\n 
\nBut outside, the buzz of burning crickets calling us,
\nsunflowers unanimously crackled
\nlike a diaphanous chorus of splinters
\nand an amber bird
\nsuddenly crossed the sky.
\n 
\nWe were simply creatures of joy
\nfreed of pain for an instant,
\nnot intact, but unharmed
\nfrom so many occurrences,
\nfull and surrendered
\nto the flame which momentarily sates
\nshortage of excess,
\nto the branch which wreathes the crown of joy,
\nand warm dates smiled upon by evening\u2019s
\napron splashed with handfuls of water,
\nin the fresh innocence
\nof what has spilt its measure
\nand brimming overflows
\nby the grace of this truce,
\nwhich at times life gifts us:
\nto be and to be us, merely
\nand to be everything
\nto justify the universe.

\nAmparo Amor\u00f3s was born in Valencia, Spain, in 1950.She has published articles and poems in literary magazines such as Insula, Cuadernos Hispanoamericanos, Cuadernos del Norte, Litoral, El Pa\u00eds, La Vanguardia<\/em> and others. She was awarded an accesit to the Adonais Literary Prize<\/em> in 1982, for her poetry book Ludia <\/em>(1983). Other published books include Al rumor de la luz <\/em>(1985), La honda traves\u00eda del \u00e1guila <\/em>(1986), El c\u00e1lculo de la derrota, La cicatriz del agua, Quevediana<\/em> (1988), Visi\u00f3n y destino<\/em>, poes\u00eda 1982-1992 (1993), \u00c1rboles en la m\u00fasica<\/em> (1995) and Las moradas <\/em>(2000) as well as her essay La palabra del silencio<\/em> (la funci\u00f3n del silencio en la poes\u00eda espa\u00f1ola a partir de 1969) (1991).Her books have been translated into several languages.<\/strong>

\nRobin Ouzman Hislop Editor of the 12 year running on line monthly poetry journal Poetry Life and Times<\/strong>. (See its Wikipedia<\/em> entry at Poetry Life and Times<\/a>). He has made many appearances over the last years in the quarterly journals Canadian Zen Haiku<\/em>, including In the Spotlight Winter 2010<\/em> & Sonnetto Poesia<\/em>. Amparo Arrospide (Argentina) is a Spanish poet and translator. She has published four poetry collections, Mosaicos bajo la hiedra, Alucinaci\u00f3n en dos actos y algunos poemas, Pa\u00f1uelos de usar y tirar and Presencia en el Misterio<\/em> as well as poems, short stories and articles on literary and film criticism in anthologies and both national and foreign magazines. She has received numerous awards. Together with Robin Ouzman Hislop, she worked as co-editor of Poetry Life and Times<\/em>, an E-zine from 2008-2012<\/b><\/p>\n
