\nI question in your mirror, inimitable age,
\nin which of my innumerable
\nlarders is the mask of the goddess,
\nwhich once shadow covered marbles.
\n 
\nYour ardor, such obsessive ecstasy,
\nmade her lovely and distant and proclaimed her alone.
\nNot with standing the times she abused you all!
\nHer tongue so cruel was as a whip lash.
\nBehind the balconies she spied eagerly
\ndenying supplicant eyes
\nif any of your desires were presumptive.
\n 
\nShe granted none of you a single thread of her tunic,
\nnot even as much as to stir its beads.
\nNone of you were able to peep through a keyhole
\nto see how parsimoniously she disrobed herself
\nletting her nakedness grow from the bath.
\nA vapor of dark vine climbing, a hand reaching
\nits sponge, fragrant foam crawling
\nover and into her body,
\nestablishing her invisible supremacy.
\n 
\nNone of you drank from the fountains of ambrosia
\nthat flooded the turbulent labyrinths
\nsealed by a malign virginity, nor knew
\nher shaded armpits, the luxuriant pelvis tortoise shell,
\nher plaited hair, nor the kind touch of those fingers
\nthat I know so well, but how you love her!
\n 
\nNone of you heard her shout when the din of pleasure
\nhappened and tumultuously overflowed the cleft cupola,
\nbut the memory of her hurtling downwards assaults
\nall of you and in me you seek her. How terrible and
\ninimitable age. I am forever questioning your mirror.
\n 
\nI want to be reborn in that ancient persona
\nthat fascinated all of you, that body so unknown,
\nif such a metamorphosis were at all possible.
\n 
\nSo now you know in which exact
\npores of my skin Eros is concealed,
\nand the secrets surprised by your skilful
\nmouths spread out on the bed sheet.

\nYielding, my legs will bind yours,
\nfastening for that total assault on my
\nthrust womb to burn there.

\nan invaded homeland of routine pleasures.
\nBy possessing me you lost my inner beauty

\nANA ROSSETTI is a Spanish poet from C\u00e1diz, who has been prominent on the Spanish literary scene for over 32 years. Since her remarkable voice burst on the Spanish cultural scene during the 1980s as a stage performer, she has become known in some circles as the \u201cMadonna of Spanish Letters.\u201d Besides poetry, Rossetti has dabbled in most genres including fiction, essay, drama, children\u2019s literature and opera; and has collaborated with visual artists, popular singers and fashion designers. Her most well-known poetry collections include Los devaneos de Erato (Premio Gules, 1980), Indicios vehementes (1985), Yesterdays (1988), and Punto Umbr\u00edo (1996). For her book Devocionario, Rossetti received The III International Poetry Prize, Rey Juan Carlos I.
