\"IN<\/a><\/p>\n

So it was for them,
\nand for countless others,
\nas they grew and struggled
\nin a soulless-system, seeking-out
\ntheir identities, their paths, their purpose,
\ntheir successes, as captivating circumstance cajoled
\n(each) with a fool\u2019s panacea. People much like cold calderas,
\nonce bold and forceful, now, sadly subject to
\nthe chronicles of yawning indifference.
\n~
\nA cop\u2019s wife beat
\ndown {oppressed}
\nseeks retribution in her world
\nof make-believe.
\nA sister\u2019s husband beats her; it
\nrewires her heart and mind; cursed,
\nhe dies soused in a head-on,
\nleaving her and an
\n(only) son alone
\nunloved.
\nYears go by\u2026
\nEVER deprived of model,
\nthe son loses his bearings, angry,
\narrogant, aggravated, he curls inward,
\nembraces his wounds, weed, alcohol, pills,
\nends up wayward, darkened, lessened, a miscreant
\nseeking refuge in a Wiccan\u2019s ramshackle garage
\nwhere he drinks and smokes himself numb,
\nand lines the framing with hundreds
\nof empty bottles he pretends are medals
\n ~
\nThese accounts
\nproliferate like weeds,
\nin every city and township
\nthe wounded (financially solvent
\nor in straitened circumstances) exist in
\nan odd state of melancholic un-belonging,
\nsouls seeking freedom, wings, peace,
\nmeaning, as opposing forces
\nrelentlessly push back
\nwith impudent vigor
\nugly converting
\ninfluences
\nstaunch
\nunbending
\nunwavering
\ndeceptive assuredness
\nvomiting multiple sides of
\nsimilar theories simultaneously
\ncaught betwixt shadows of indifference
\nas side by side miseries annihilate
\nmeaningful purpose
\n~
\nAnd they persist,
\nlike wildflowers and weeds, a
\npandemic of fraught souls struggling,
\n(employed or destitute)
\nsurviving alone,
\nunloved in a soulless system,
\nscorned, segregated, separated,
\nalone dreamers dreaming dreams of
\nbeautiful things that remain [for them] unrealized \u2026<\/p>\n

Richard’s literary work is currently in over 35,000 data bases and outlets. Richard’s other novels include: A Monumental Journey\u2026 In Search of the First Tribe\u2026 The Underground River\u2026 Beyond Understanding. All four are in the Monumental Journey Series. <\/p>\n

Richard has been privileged to travel extensively throughout the USA, the provinces of British Columbia, Manitoba, Alberta, and Saskatchewan in Canada, the Yukon Territories, Kodiak Island, Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, Sitka, Petersburg, and Glacier Bay, in Alaska, the Azorean Archipelagoes, and throughout Germany, Switzerland, Spain, and Holland… Richard and his wife, Michele, have been avid adventurers and, when time permits, still enjoy exploring the Laguna Mountains, the Cuyamaca Mountains, the High Deserts in Southern California, the Eastern Sierra’s, the Dixie National Forest, the Northern California and Southern Oregon coastlines, and the “Four Corners” region of the United States.<\/p>\n

Richard designed, constructed, and operated a MIDI Digital Recording Studio – TAYLOR and GRACE – from 1995 – 2002. For seven years he diligently fulfilled his own musical visions and those of others. Richard personally composed, and multi-track recorded, over 500 compositions during this time and has two completed CD\u2019s to his personal credit: WHAT LOVE HAS DONE and THE PATH. Both albums were mixed and mastered by Steve Wetherbee, founder of Golden Track Studios in San Diego, California. Richard retired from music after performing professionally for fifteen years and seven years of recording studio explorations. He works, now, at one of San Diego’s premier historical sites, as a Superintendent. Richard is also a carpenter and a collector of classic books, and books long out of print.<\/p>\n
