\nIt\u2019s not a phantom from a distant past
\npresent in a time frame like a shadow
\nhiding something remote, intangible
\nin the myth of now, which habit sustains,
\neven as it fades. What is it then, this veil
\nthat haunts beyond the place periphery?
\nYou gaze yonder knowing there is no yore
\nenticing us from a space we can\u2019t leave,
\nbut only deepen where we\u2019re conceived.
\nWhat enters then in this frame\u2019s perception,
\nalluring because it\u2019s beyond approach,
\nthat cheats memory and never lets it go,
\na holographic cosmic horizon
\nor death always reminding us we die?
\n

\nNo es de un lejano pasado fantasma

\nla sombra en el presente actualizada
\nque oculta lo remoto e intangible
\nen el ficticio ahora, rutinario

\nAmparo Arrospide (Argentina) is a Spanish writer and translator. She has published four poetry collections Mosaicos bajo la hiedra, Alucinaci\u00f3n en dos actos y algunos poemas, Pa\u00f1uelos de usar y tirar and Presencia en el Misterio as well as poems, short stories and articles on literary and film criticism in anthologies and both national and foreign magazines, such as Cuadernos del Matem\u00e1tico, Cuadernos Hispanoamericanos, Linden Lane Magazine, Esp\u00e9culo, Piedra del Molino, Nayagua. She has received awards. Together with Robin Ouzman Hislop, she worked as co-editor of Poetry Life and Times, a webzine, and coordinated the Spanish sonnets section for the international anthology The Phoenix Rising from the Ashes (ed.
