\nOf an early morning haunting
\nThe ghosts of summer,
\nWindblown voices
\nAnd hazy dreams
\nStill linger
\nIn the blue shadows
\nOf a dying star
\n
\nA pearl scarf of frost glistens
\nUnder a red rising Sun
\nA lone gull cries to the wind
\nLeaving its imprint
\nIn the thick atmosphere
\nOf a muted October sky
\n
\nMy footsteps crunch and crackle
\nOn a scatter of pebbles and leaves
\nThat whisper secrets
\nInto the outstretched palms
\nOf this early morning haunting.
\n
\nI watch the sun rise;
\nAsh to ember to flame.
\nI listen to the wind;
\nSilence to whispers to voices
\n
