\nwas writ in the calligraphy
\nof swirling, arching waves
\nwithout the eyes and ears
\nspurs and tails
\nof word or sound
\nin human alphabets
\nwhere no one heard him speak
\nthe language of the sea
\nhis sermon on the mount
\nof turbulence
\nwhose name is lost\u2014
\nhe proclaimed dominion
\nover tide and time
\nthen sank alone into a sea
\nof disregard.
