Perhaps grief is a home
\nwith a haughty ceiling and a bolted door
\nwhere you feel so comfortable, sometimes,
\nthat you do not hear the steel s edge
\nslashing the tapestries,
\nsuspended on the scented air:
\nit is heliotrope blended with brimstone,
\nseeking to settle in the corners;<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

only the window stands
\nbetween the limit and you.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Arduous walk, in silence you listen to the ancient voices,
\nfirewood for this grief
\nalways starved of you,
\nas demanding as a newborn child
\nwhom you already love.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The door opens ajar and you close it:
\nThere is nothing to be afraid of.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Amparo Arrospide (Argentina) is a Spanish poet and translator. She has published four poetry collections, Mosaicos bajo la hiedra, Alucinaci\u00f3n en dos actos y algunos poemas, Pa\u00f1uelos de usar y tirar and Presencia en el Misterio as well as poems, short stories and articles on literary and film criticism in anthologies and both national and foreign magazines. She has received numerous awards. Together with Robin Ouzman Hislop, she worked as co-editor of Poetry Life and Times, an E-zine.<\/b><\/p>\n
