\r\n\r\nthere are not many<\/strong>\r\nlike me left in the world<\/strong>\r\nfierce loners<\/strong>\r\nwishing only to be<\/strong>\r\nfree to live the life<\/strong>\r\nwe are meant for<\/strong>\r\n\r\nnot long ago<\/strong>\r\nwe roamed<\/strong>\r\nunmolested<\/strong>\r\nscorned by some<\/strong>\r\nignored by most<\/strong>\r\nbut free - free!<\/strong>\r\nwandering at will<\/strong>\r\non the periphery\r\nof <\/strong>homogenization<\/strong>\r\nable to live<\/strong>\r\nby our talents<\/strong>\r\nand our wits<\/strong>\r\n\r\nthen quietly<\/strong>\r\nthe roundup began<\/strong>\r\nthe truthtellers\r\nfirst <\/strong>followed by<\/strong>\r\nthe crazy the poor<\/strong>\r\nthe sick the old<\/strong>\r\nand all the others<\/strong>\r\nwho could not be cogged<\/strong>\r\ninto the great machine<\/strong>\r\nbuilt by the<\/strong>\r\nworldwide worshipers<\/strong>\r\nof mammon<\/strong>\r\n\r\nmy glorious fur<\/strong>\r\nmatted and dull<\/strong>\r\nfrom being confined<\/strong>\r\nin this small space<\/strong>\r\n(prescripted by<\/strong>\r\nbureaucratic souls<\/strong>\r\nin bespoke costumes<\/strong>\r\npaid for in blood<\/strong>\r\nsucked from slaves)<\/strong>\r\nwith ragged claws<\/strong>\r\ni tear at invisible bars<\/strong>\r\nthat separate me<\/strong>\r\nfrom my natural terrain<\/strong>\r\n\r\nif i were free to find<\/strong>\r\nthe empire poachers<\/strong>\r\nwho boxed me up<\/strong>\r\nit would be<\/strong>\r\na fierce quick end<\/strong>\r\nfor those abductors\r\n<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/pre>\n
but dawn comes
\nand with it
\ngreat gray tumbrels
\nto carry us<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
useless scribblers and daubers
\ndangerous malcontents
\nprophets and nonbelievers
\naway<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

RC deWinter is a photographer, digital artist, poet, essayist and singer-songwriter currently living and working in Haddam, Connecticut. She has been shooting photos for over 25 years, using both traditional and digital SLR equipment. Her digital work is created using a variety of software and includes oil paintings, watercolor sketches and drawings. <\/b><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
Her work <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/strong>has appeared in print, notably in <\/b><\/span><\/strong>Uno: A Poetry Anthology<\/b><\/i><\/span><\/strong>, <\/b><\/span><\/strong>Pink Panther Magazine<\/b><\/i><\/span><\/strong>,<\/b><\/span><\/strong> Arts Creation Magazine<\/b><\/i><\/span><\/strong>, <\/b><\/span><\/strong>The Sun Magazine,<\/b><\/i><\/span><\/strong><\/strong>2River View, Poetry Nook, Garden Tripod <\/b><\/i><\/span><\/strong>and <\/b><\/span><\/strong>The American Muse<\/b><\/i><\/span><\/strong> as well as in many online publications. <\/b><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
In addition<\/b><\/span><\/strong><\/strong>to her personal online portfolios, Ms. deWinter\u2019s art is exhibited on of several internet-based showcases, including <\/b><\/span><\/strong>The Trillium Gallery, Saatchi Online, ARTbracket, The Art for Cancer Gallery, Copperflame Gallery, b-uncut <\/b><\/i><\/span><\/strong>and <\/b><\/span><\/strong>Artists, Writers and Photographers in the Raw.<\/b><\/i><\/span><\/strong> ABC has licensed several of her paintings to be used as set decor on the television series <\/b><\/span><\/strong>Desperate Housewives.<\/b><\/i><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
Ms. deWinter is honored to be the first digital artist invited to exhibit her work at an October 2011 solo show the Arts of Tolland Gallery in Tolland, Connecticut.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n
