<\/a> blot a madcap ledger, writ<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a> like the last, inchoate notion<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a> of a dark, unhealthy fit.<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a> Extant some bold lammergeier,<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a> serpentwise, yet dragon fell,<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a> destroying life’s pure, flaring fire<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a> across untrammeled leagues of hell.<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a> Colors shooting blinding schism<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a> lighten dark, unfettered dreams.<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a> Sunlight, filtered by a prism,<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a> outlines evanescent schemes.<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a> Thus from behind these prison bars,<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 the savant yearns to claim the stars.<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Jim Dunlap’s poetry has been published extensively in print and online in the United States, England, France, India, Australia, Switzerland and New Zealand. His work has appeared in over 90 publications, including Potpourri, Candelabrum, Mobius, Poems Niedernasse, and the Paris\/Atlantic. He was the co-editor of Sonnetto Poesia and is currently a Content Admin for Poetry Life & Times. <\/strong>www.facebook.com\/PoetryLifeTimes<\/a> <\/b><\/span><\/span> He is also the chief proofreader for the On Viewless Wings Anthologies, published out of Queensland, Australia. In the past, he was a resident poet on Poetry Life & Times and the newsletter editor for seven years with the Des Moines Area Writers’ Network.<\/strong><\/p>\n
