For blank hours our bus had swung,<\/strong>\r\nSteadily grinding down parabolas<\/strong>\r\nAgainst the wheeling empty sky.<\/strong>\r\nRiding a sluiced track of decaying tar<\/strong>\r\nAn extenuated rattling afterthought,<\/strong>\r\nA tattooed apology to progress.<\/strong><\/pre>\nMountain slopes pinned like curtains<\/strong>\r\nAgainst our backs. White tooth-stones<\/strong>\r\nEdging the dropped jaw of the road.<\/strong>\r\nA lifetime below in the darkened creases<\/strong>\r\nOf the earth, a secret string unravelled,<\/strong>\r\nMelt water, in an unvoiced torrent.<\/strong><\/pre>\nThen in the crook of an alpine elbow<\/strong>\r\nThe world tipped upward into view<\/strong>\r\nYawning lazily like a stretching giant.<\/strong>\r\nTingling point.<\/strong>\r\nA void of expanded air<\/strong>\r\nPulling saw-blade peaks white with snow<\/strong>\r\nOut of a silent, breathless distance.<\/strong><\/pre>\nOnly the ticking of the cooling engine<\/strong>\r\nA bleating goat, some buzzling insect<\/strong>\r\nRemind us that beyond the remoteness<\/strong>\r\nHere, the world is still moving.<\/strong><\/pre>\n\u00a0<\/strong><\/pre>\n\u00a0Simon Miller teaches English and Drama at an international school in Thailand where he lives with his wife and three growing children. He has written several plays for young people. His own childhood was spent between Botswana and England and he has rarely stopped exploring since. Social history, culture and the natural world are his main fascinations, and particularly the points where all three meet.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n

The Poetic Bond is about exploring, sharing and encouraging poetry from all over the world.<\/p>\n
Thirty-six poets from 11 countries were selected through a submission process in which there were no restrictions on form, style, length of subject; instead the choices made were on the basis of emergent themes and congruency in the pool of work; a snapshot of the poetry of new media NOW, seeking to capture the zeitgeist of the moment.<\/p>\n
