These Poems
                                            by David Michael Jackson

We take the consequences,
the fences,
the cold truth,
the cold rain of truth.
The spring rains of shortly lived wisdom
fool me every year
and will
again.
These poems,
these black raindrops on this page.
on others.
You find me in the night
You ask for cloud poems and
demons poems
and you find me
in the night,
and leave me, silently, with a tiny
click.
Poof I'm gone!
Poof my cloud poem
dissipates.
This poem,
this poem is not a beacon,
not a candle,
not a window into our lives.
It is,
at best
the shadow
behind the apple,
the red,
red apple.
