The title, The Monster Loves His Labyrinth: Notebooks. refers a book of literary criticism and theory together with his own poetry works. In part of it he discusses the relationship of time, space and form in the context of the written word. Perhaps a little dated by today’s standard of cosmological enquirey, as broadly, it seems to me, to refer to conventional Externalism. It comes however highly recommended by this much acclaimed Yugoslavian poet resident in the USA since 1953.

Artist Statement: Recycled art
1. Painted a large painting during Gulf War 1, 36″ x 24″
2. Somewhere during Gulf War 2 it gets big hole in the middle of it.
2. So I cut pieces out of it and glued them onto a panel 16″ x 20″
3. One more Gulf War and we can get this painting down to 8″ x 10″

The feeling of uselessness, outcasting, and disgrace in this poem is thought to be related to the 1592 closing of London playhouses as [a] result of an outbreak of the plague, causing Shakespeare and other actors to live with small wages, and be looked upon as filthy by town society.

Needless to say, if Shakespeare were alive today, he’d be writing screenplays for television, and probably penning rap lyrics in his spare time.

Earsdon Village from Rake Lane. Rapeseed oil crop flowering. This rough oil study is a couple of years old. 8×8 inches. Cheap and quick to paint. Beyond the church lies the Victorian graveyard where over 200 victims of the New Hartley pit disaster, many of them children, were laid to rest. There can be great pain in beauty…..Norman Tween
“Vibrant”. That is what this little painting has been called. The use of space here is virant indeed. The village occupies so little of the canvas and does so, so perfectly. The reddish hues compliment the green of the field and separate the field from the pretty blue sky. This sky has movement in it, the brushstrokes seem active.
