Christmastime
You ought to have seen, as when a night,
I saw the fields all covered white,
where from I glanced and brushed my sleeve
of snow, which fell that Christmas eve,
beautifully layered in a glacial array,
its splendor remained through Christmas Day
and through years to come__I would always remember
the wintry stillness__of that white December.
My ear retrieves, still the bells and chimes,
sweet carols of Christmas, and story rhymes,
and the dearest of all, though small as some see,
is the love and warmth of ones family,
whose trails throuh life are less explored
by thoses of the lonely, the weak, and poor.
So Lord, if thou'll listen, I solemnly pray
that so sadness will fall on this Christmas day,
for the chance one day our children to find
the true magic of Christmas, we leave behind.
And whether workers, or teachers, craftsmen of dolls,
somewhere, there's a child inside of us all
who tends to remind us we can still believe
in candle-lit wishes, and snowy Christmas Eves.
So, let us sing in one voice, that on every ear may fall;
"Thoughout the world it's Christmas, indeed ---
a Christmas for all!"
