Sparrows poem by David Michael Jackson
The Sparrows
The sparrows outside the window
flutter and catch my eye.
"We're outside and together in the
sunshine.", they say,
"We can fly.
We can look in each others eyes"
.
I am reminded of the footage of
elephants returning to
kindred bones
years later.
Animals are
people too.
The sparrows return,
the sunlight burns.
I stare.
